“The Internet is based on a layered, end-to-end model that allows people at each level of the network to innovate free of any central control.” -Vinton Cerf. I couldn’t understand how people lived before the Internet. But for the rest of us, Internet is anything and everything.

SwarnaAndhra Harivillu v0.1: Technology: No more restrictions on Internet Telephony in India

Good to know, finally Indian government removed all the restrictions on Internet telephony. Really great news.

Finally Indian government has removed the restrictions on internet telephony and allows internet service providers to terminate calls to any phone (landline or Mobile).

The telecom regulator has removed restrictions on net telephony which allows internet service providers (ISPs) to terminate voice calls from the net on the phone. Put simply it makes voice calls interoperable between mobile handset (VOIP- voice internet protocol– enabled) and a personal computer (PC).

Consumers would be able to make calls from PCs to fixed line and mobile phones in India. They can also make a call to personal computers from their handsets. Till date, a call from a computer could legally be made only to another computer within the country, and not to a phone. However, one could make international calls to a phone from their computer.

Adobe Acrobat.com - Rich Internet Apps, absolutely Free!

You must have heard the online version of the coveted Photoshop, the Photoshop Express. Here is the good news. Some more on your way. Real ‘Rich Internet Applications’ finally arrived, much to my delight, absolutely Free.

Adobe Acrobat.com - Work. Together. Anywhere.

A truly rich Word processor, a web conference solution (with integrated Audio/video support) and a 5GB online file storage service. All absolutely free. Did you try Photoshop express yet?

Really Rich Word Processor, Adobe Buzzword

When there was lots of hype that web based word processors will take over desktop versions like MS Word, I argued, unless word processors go Flash based to provide rich and fast interaction, there is now way users in general embrace web based word processors.

Well Adobe brings a web based Word processor called Adobe Buzzword. Its pretty cool, supports a huge font set, allow collaboration and document sharing and of course you can convert the document to PDF file.  The editing itself is so better than other online word processors.

Adobe ConnectNow to all your Conference Needs

Forget about expensive Webex. Here is a free alternative that has everything you ever wanted in a Web Conference software, absolutely Free. Share your desktop, no need to setup a separate conference bridge, it is built with Audio support so you can talk right away just in seconds. Share your files, chat with attendees, explain using a white board. If that is all you ever wanted, what about the video of You on the conference. You can just use a webcam and put yourself on the conference. I just tried a simple meeting, I just love it.

Just one huge catch: Free version only supports 3 participants.  3 is too low for a conference, at least for me.

A 5GB File Vault

Adobe.com also provide a 5GB file storage for all your documents. Fantastic.

If you are on the net recently, you must not have missed, the online Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Express that comes with its own 2GB storage for all your images. So finally the web collaboration is taking place, big at Adobe.

How ‘Commerce’ changes everything about News?

At my Toastmasters’ club and every other social gathering, I always mention (sometimes, I almost preach or fight) in one way or the other, why we need to pick and choose our own news, news that makes real difference to our career or personal life or something we are so passionate about.  And why we must exclude or reject completely the news that could be sensational or publicized by media companies, but never make any sense to you or your life.

In other words, you decide what news is really news for you and what news is sensational for you and what news you really can’t miss out.

Watch this TED video, the statistics will tell you the real story behind the scenes and how elegantly speaker summarizes in one simple line, why Media houses make Britney on the street, the news that could never miss.

Best way to take control of your life, stop watching TV and stop listening to Radio where broadcasting happens as per THEIR Plan, without any concern for your interests. And go with on demand programming. You pick what you need. Use online Programs. RSS Feeds. Email alerts. Even better. You have complete choice of when to stop and when to start. Most important and valuable one is you can pick what you want.
